Ashwini Sahakari Rugnalaya and Sanshodhan Kendra Nyt. was established on 23-02-1983 by a team of devoted doctors and social workers after obtaining necessary registration form Deputy Registrar of Co-operative Society (SUR/NSUR/GNL/901/83), Solapur.

It was started as an OPD facility in a slum area with fourteen committed doctors and a few staff, But a broad vision, immense determination, plenty of courage and an endless, selfless effort saw this small beginning blossom into a 30 bedded hospital within a span of five years.

The new building was constructed in March 1988, in the heart of Solapur city (CS No. 7101/1, Tank plot), North Sadar Bazaar, Near Bhagat Singh market on a lot measuring 83,196 Sq Feet taken on a lease basis from the Government of Maharashtra. It had a 30 bedded indoor facility with a functional radiology and pathology departments.

Now, almost 22 years later, Ashwini Sahakari Rugnalaya and and Sanshodhan Kendra Nyt., has a bed capacity of 300 bed and has become a premier Multi State co-operative hospital, one of the largest co-operative setups in Solapur. It is ranked as one of the best in providing ultramodern medical services under one roof on no-profit, no-loss basis of classes of people (except for the profit margin required for maintenance and expansion of the hospital) and at subsidized charges to low income groups. The hospital caters to a large population of about 25 million people from South Western Maharashtra and neighboring states like Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh, Burgeoning into a modern hospital equipped with state-of-the-art facilities, Ashwini Sahakari Rugnalaya has now become a tertiary level referral center for doctors from Solapur and adjoining districts of Osmanabad, Latur, Bijapur, Bidar, Gulbarga, Raichur districts of Karnataka and districts of Andhra Pradesh.

Solapur city is one of the developing centers for industrial and textile manufacturing activities, with a population of 15 lakhs, which caters mainly to the business needs of Karnataka, and Andhra states. It is located on the national highway No. 9, 240 kms away from Pune on the Mumbai-Hyderabad National highway. Thus low - income group textile workers from Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka settle in this border city and consequently seek medical care at reasonable cost from premium institutions like ours. Registered under the Co-operative Societies Act, the hospital was and is bound by co-operative laws. Still it has had a remarkable progress over the years and has developed into a leading and prestigious institution in Solapur.
